My Druthers, singing shanties and stomping the stage.
Next up, The Dreadnoughts — channeling rage
into three-part harmonies, backed up by every member of the crowd crowded together,
sweating in their winter jackets
as close as they could get to the singing truth:
“Come all you good workers / Beware the command / It comes down on high from the desk of a man / Who’s never held steel or torch in his hands / Roll Northumbria, Roll.”
We shed our steel and our torches and our library books and our laptop computers to sing together
My Druthers saves the day when strings break
